Murder indictments issued in Miramar teen’s death
November 4, 2021
A Broward County grand jury issued an indictment today, charging three teens with first-degree murder in the Oct. 17 death of Dwight Grant in Miramar.
The three defendants are:
Andre Dexter Clements (DOB: 6/23/2004)
Christie Parisien (DOB: 1/17/2004)
Jaslyn Smith (DOB: 2/9/2005)
They are charged with first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, criminal conspiracy, and tampering with evidence.
Their arraignment dates will be scheduled shortly and they will be moved from juvenile detention to the jail system.
Due to the defendants’ ages, the maximum possible punishment is life in state prison. If the case had been handled in the juvenile justice system, anyone found guilty would have to be released after a maximum of three years and could only be kept under supervision in the community until age 21.
After considering all of the available facts, evidence, and circumstances, Broward State Attorney Harold F. Pryor and a panel of senior prosecutors decided the case should be presented to a grand jury. The grand jury determined that first-degree murder was the appropriate charge.
The Miramar Police Department investigated this case and made the arrests.
