Sheriff’s deputy formally charged with armed grand theft

A Broward Sheriff’s deputy has been formally charged with a crime involving the theft of cash during an undercover integrity check operation at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Broward State Attorney Harold F. Pryor announced.

Michael Spencer, 49, is charged with one count of armed grand theft, a felony. The information (formal charging document) was filed by prosecutors on Thursday.

The offense carries a maximum possible penalty of up to 15 years in state prison.
