Broward State Attorney Harold F. Pryor increases starting salary for new prosecutors to $60,000

Effective July 1, Broward State Attorney Harold F. Pryor is increasing the starting salary for new assistant state attorneys to a record $60,000 plus benefits.

“A lot of us have worked very hard to boost salaries for new and career prosecutors and I thank everyone who has worked with us to make it a reality,” State Attorney Pryor said. 

“I am grateful that the State Legislature and Governor recognized the need to provide additional salary dollars for these attorneys who are dedicated public servants. We are all committed to working for justice and public safety for everyone in our community. I hope that by also increasing the starting salary for new assistant state attorneys in Broward County that we can better compete with private firms and other government agencies. We all know that the cost of living in Broward County has increased and I hope this will allow us to recruit and retain new attorneys who want to make this community better for everyone.”

Starting salaries for prosecutors are increasing from the current level of $50,000 to $60,000, with a benefits package worth more than $40,000.
