A Sunrise Police Department sergeant has been charged with four crimes related to incidents involving a fellow police officer and a man who was being arrested, Broward State Attorney Harold F. Pryor announced.

Christopher Pullease, 47, (DOB 4/26/1975), is charged with one count of battery on a law enforcement officer; one count of tampering with evidence; assault on a law enforcement officer; and assault on a civilian male.

The Nov. 19, 2021 incidents occurred during the arrest of a man in Sunrise.

The sergeant is accused of intentionally touching or striking the female police officer against her will, assaulting her by holding pepper spray up to her face, and assaulting the civilian male by holding pepper spray to his face. If convicted, the maximum possible penalties are five years in state prison for felony battery on a law enforcement officer, one year for assaulting a law enforcement officer, and 60 days for assault on a civilian.

The sergeant is also accused of tampering with evidence, his cellphone, in January of this year. If convicted, the maximum possible penalty is five years in state prison.

Prosecutors filed the four-count information, or charging document, on Wednesday, following an investigation by Sunrise Police Department and Broward prosecutors. Public records related to the case will be available shortly on www.browardclerk.org
